The Tennessee Room is a collection of books and periodicals on the history of Tennessee with particular strength in the Northeast Tennessee region. These research materials are used by genealogists, local historians, and anyone interested in the peoples and places of Johnson City and its environs. Due to the unique nature of many of the items, Tennessee Room books are available for on-site reference only. Search the catalog for available materials in the Tennessee Room. The library also houses files of unpublished genealogical resources (such as pedigree charts). These folders are stored in a filing cabinet and are arranged by surname.
Library reference staff can provide basic help locating resources. Watauga Association of Genealogists (WAGS) volunteers are available in the Tennessee Room to offer more in-depth genealogy research assistance from 6:30 – 8:00 p.m. on the second Tuesday of each month.
