Hamster in the Hand Basket by Ben M. Baglio

Rating:

Mandy and her best friend James get to take home the class hamster over the summer.  They take very good care of him and when his cage is rocked and he is missing they become very worried.  This isn't the first strange thing that has happened lately.  Several things have been found destroyed around the village lately.  People are blaming a group of kids who have come from the city to spend a week in the village.  Mandy and James do not think that the city kids are the vandals.  Can they solve this mystery and get back their hamster?

The Adventures Of Sherlock Holmes by Arthur Conan Doyle

Rating:

Sherlock Holmes is a great and very observant detective who solves three mysterious mysteries in the book I read with his assistant,  Dr. Watson.  The first mystery was about a red head shop owner who was given the opportunity to earn a little extra cash by a read head League.  He just had to copy down the encyclopedia and earned five pounds a week,  but then after a few weeks he came to his office and a sign was put on it that said the League had dissolved.  The second mystery was about a woman whose sister had a mysterious weird murder.  The third was about a woman who was a governess and was serving a man who was mysterious to her.

The Solitaire Mystery by Jostein Gaarder

Rating:

This story is amazing!  Full of metaphors,  magic,  and facts of life.  This is one of the best novels I have ever read.  A preteen boy goes in search of his mother who "got lost in the fashion world."  Other characters in this story are his father,  the Joker,  Hans,  the baker,  and Frodo,  his ancestor.  Not only does he find his mother,  but also the amazing history of his family.
