Allan Wolf to Perform at the Johnson City Public Library

The Johnson City Public Library is pleased to host Allan Wolf as part of the “Every Hero Has a Story” Summer Reading Program on Thursday, July 9th at 10:30 a.m. and 3:30 p.m. in the Jones Meeting Room. Wolf’s unique performance style results from his varied influences. He brings to the stage his experience of a slam poet, his ease of an Appalachian storyteller, and the musicality from his long tenure with The Dead Poets band. His high-energy show will keep the audience engaged in his antics as he transforms from being a hungry Tyrannosaur driving a Volkswagen to speaking heart-felt stories in verse to playing his guitar as he sings a song about Edgar Allan Poe.

Teen Guardians of the Galaxy Event

Rising 6th to 12th graders are invited to attend a special program inspired by Marvels’ popular movie and comic book characters the Guardians of the Galaxy. The event will be held at the Johnson City Public Library on Tuesday, July 14th from 6:00 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. in the Jones Meeting Room. Teens will be able to make their own dancing baby Groots, Star Lord masks, galactic goo, and much more. This program is free but registration is required. Contact the Youth Services Desk at (423)434-4458 for more information and to sign up.

Meet the New Library System

The OWL (Organization of Watauga Libraries) Consortium, consisting of Johnson City Public Library and nine other library systems in upper east Tennessee and Bristol, Virginia, has completed its migration to a new library system. Our system has a new domain name to bookmark and use:

During the migration, we transferred all of our library accounts, including their account information, current check outs, holds, fines, etc. You will login to your account using your library card number (such as 22488001234567) and your password (PIN). Your password will be your last name with the first letter capitalized (such as Johnson or Washington). If you experience any difficulties accessing your OWL account, please call us during regular hours at 423-434-4450.

Our system is by SirsiDynix, one of the leading library system vendors in the world. To this system, we will be adding new features and telling you about them in this space in the coming weeks. In the meantime, we invite you to explore your new catalog at
