Meet the New Library System
The OWL (Organization of Watauga Libraries) Consortium, consisting of Johnson City Public Library and nine other library systems in upper east Tennessee and Bristol, Virginia, has completed its migration to a new library system. Our system has a new domain name to bookmark and use: owl.sirsi.net.
During the migration, we transferred all of our library accounts, including their account information, current check outs, holds, fines, etc. You will login to your account using your library card number (such as 22488001234567) and your password (PIN). Your password will be your last name with the first letter capitalized (such as Johnson or Washington). If you experience any difficulties accessing your OWL account, please call us during regular hours at 423-434-4450.
Our system is by SirsiDynix, one of the leading library system vendors in the world. To this system, we will be adding new features and telling you about them in this space in the coming weeks. In the meantime, we invite you to explore your new catalog at owl.sirsi.net.
Comic-Con Art Contest
The Johnson City Public Library is holding an art contest as part of the 2015 Summer Reading Program. The contest is open to all ages. Art will be judged in two categories: children (12 & under) and teens/adults (13 & older). Bring submissions to the Youth Services Desk or Information Desks at the Johnson City Public Library from Friday, May 8 until Saturday, May 30. Top choices in both categories will be displayed in the library in June. Winners in each category will be announced at the JCPL Comic Con on Saturday, June 27. Artists may pick up their submissions at the library in the month of July. The library reserves the right to decline displaying anything deemed inappropriate for this family event.
