At 6:00 p.m. on Thursday, February 20th in the Johnson City Public Library Computer Instruction Center, there will be a class for students of all ages titled How to Research a Topic. To do their homework and write research papers, students require advanced research skills such as the ability to identify reliable sources. Forming these skills at an early age will help students with schoolwork at all levels and will help prepare them for college, work, and life. In this class, participants will learn how to find materials using the library’s catalog, how to identify reliable web resources, and how to search the Tennessee Electronic Library’s databases to find peer-reviewed and primary sources for their schoolwork. Parents, students, and interested adults are all welcome to attend. To help us plan we ask for anyone interested in participating to register ahead of time, although the class is free and all are welcome to attend regardless of registration. For more information or to register for this class, please contact the Johnson City Public Library at (423) 434-4454.
